A Natural Skincare Miracle!

Preserving great beauty requires great effort and famously, Cleopatra took daily baths in donkey milk to preserve the vitality and beauty of her skin. In fact, since ancient times humans have been using donkey milk for cosmetic and health-care purposes, but does it really work?

Thanks to recent scientific studies, donkey milk has now been hailed as an incredible skincare product with exceptional anti-ageing and regenerative properties. Literally a nutritional powerhouse for your skin, it’s loaded with essential nutrients and minerals and packed full of vitamins, essential fatty acids, omega 3, omega-6, phospholipids, ceramides, lysozyme, natural emollients and triglycerides.

It contains a bioactive enzyme with anti-bacterial agents and anti-allergens making it perfect for the treatment of skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, dermatitis and eczema, and it’s also charged with powerful antioxidants and nutrients giving it amazing anti-wrinkle effects.

Because of their natural origin, milk ingredients are perfect for cosmetics, and across the world donkey milk is now widely used in the manufacture of soap and moisturisers. Unsurprisingly, France leads the way in product development and in recent years the cosmetic industry, which has been focused towards products made with natural ingredients, is now also oriented towards sustainable consumption.

Intensely hydrating and deeply cleansing, our pure and gentle French donkey milk soaps are very moisturising and soft on the skin. Made with organic donkey's milk sourced from a small family farm in Hérault in the Occitan region and enriched with organic shea butter, they are gently fragranced with beautiful perfumes from the famous town of Grasse - the internationally recognised "world capital of perfume".

But just what is the secret behind the benefits of donkey milk?

Just Take a Look!

POWERFUL ANTI-AGEING PROPERTIES

Contains powerful antioxidants and essential fatty acids with omegas 3 & 6 and vitamins B1, C and E which boost collagen levels, counteract free radical production, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and prevent signs of aging.

EXTREMELY NOURISHING

Contains vitamin B6, biotin and high levels of calcium and phosphorus essential for healthy skin. Vitamin B2 helps improve skin tone and balance natural oils, magnesium helps protect skin from external damage and regulates skin cell regeneration and repair whilst vitamins A & D contribute to skin cell growth, speed up healing, preventing breakouts and enhancing the skin's immune system.

INTENSELY HYDRATING

A high concentration of Lysozyme hydrates the skin cell membrane whilst amino acids maintain the skin's hydration, resilience and overall healthy appearance. Antioxidant action of fatty acids plumps the skin and ceramides help create a barrier to prevent permeability locking moisture into your skin whilst vitamin E helps keep skin hydrated and calm.

DEEPLY CLEANSING

Powerful detergent action removes dirt and dead skin cells and promotes deep cleaning of pores helping to treat acne, psoriasis and eczema whilst natural antimicrobial properties help to prevent blackheads and spots from forming.

moisturising skincare icon

HIGHLY MOISTURISING

Full of healing nutritional and rejuvenating properties - natural emollients and triglycerides act as natural moisturisers, whilst powerful cleaning and softening properties are imparted by retinol found in the milk. Thanks to vitamin A and omegas 3 & 6, dry skin regenerates quickly and is perfectly hydrated whilst vitamin E helps skin stay moisturised. Gentle to use on sensitive skin for both babies and adults, consistent use cleanses, softens and smooths.

CARING & PROTECTIVE

Phospholipids and essential fatty acids provide a natural barrier for the skin protecting facial skin from the wind, sun, and cold. Vitamin E helps further strengthen the skin barrier function slowing down moisture loss and protecting from invading bacteria and chemicals. Polyunsaturated fats help boost the skin's natural oil barrier - essential for keeping skin hydrated, plumper, and younger looking.

hypoallergenic skincare icon

HYPOALLERGENIC

Much less allergenic than synthetically loaded commercial soaps and detergents, donkey milk soaps are free from harmful chemicals, very mild and safe to use for all skin conditions. Vitamin B1 (thiamine) aids in wound healing and helps red, irritated, acne-prone or dry skin, dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema.

soothing skincare icon

GENTLE & SOOTHING

Mild composition makes it ideal for all skin types and natural soothing properties reduce the sensation of irritation, burning and itching associated with psoriasis, eczema, and other skin infections. Reduces instances of dry flaky skin and has recently been proven to be an effective treatment for acne.

rejuvenating skincare icon

REJUVENATING

A high protein concentration, tensor properties and vitamin B2 improve skin health making it soft, supple and restoring skin radiance. Vitamin C boosts collagen production promoting overall skin tightening and firming and improving the appearance of fatigued skin. Vitamin B12 boosts skin metabolism, speeding up cell recovery and regeneration whilst zinc anti-inflammatory properties help regenerate damaged skin. A wealth of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements help rejuvenate the epidermis for radiant, satiny smooth and soft skin.

exfoliating skincare icon

NATURALLY EXFOLIATING

Donkey Milk’s secret lies in the milk sugar lactose which is converted by bacteria into lactic acid. Lactic (alpha-hydroxy) acids soften the skin by breaking down the glue that holds dead skin cells together and cause the surface layer to shed dead skin cells regenerating the epidermis and leaving new smoother blemish-free skin underneath. It’s like a natural chemical peel!

An Ancient Product for Modern Times.

Historical records show that Cleopatra was not the only one who knew about the secrets of donkey milk. Poppaea Sabina the wife of the Roman Emperor Nero was also a fan, and Napoleon Bonaparte’s sister Pauline was reported to have used donkey milk as a treatment to revitalize her skin. So you see, donkey milk is an exceptional skincare product with amazing properties which has been known about since antiquity. How many other skin care products do you know about that have lasted for more than 2,500 years?

N.B. The donkey milk in our soaps is added cold after saponification to ensure that it retains all its moisturizing and regenerating characteristics, so that you can enjoy yet more, natural, organic, eco-friendly, sustainable and affordable guilt-free pure skindulgence!
