sodium palmate, aqua, sodium palm kernelate, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide

  • Directions for use:

First of all make your laundry liquid:

Mix 20g flakes with 0.5 litre of hot water and stir until dissolved.

Allow to cool and decant into a suitable airtight container. (bottle, plastic tub etc.)

This makes a basic laundry liquid suitable for washing in temperatures from 30° to 90°C and for all kinds of fabrics.

You can use the liquid straight away.

Please note that the liquid will set to a jelly like consistency overnight. Simply shake well before each use.

    This mix will give you:

10 hand washes or 7- 10 machine washes.

A 500g bag of Marseille Soap Flakes will give you approximately 275 washes.

    How to use:

    For machine washing:

Depending on the amount of laundry, use 3 - 5 tbs of ready made liquid. Add to the main dispenser drawer of your washing machine or use in a washing ball added to the drum of your machine.

    For handwashing:

Dilute your ready made liquid into a bowl of warm water.

Use 3 tablespoons to 5 litres of warm water.

    Storage:

We suggest that you keep the flakes dry in an airtight container.  Like many soaps of natural origin, as a result of exposure to light and humidity, the soap flakes may lose volume and become subject to variations in colour. This will not however reduce their effectiveness.

    Machine care:

For hard water areas add between 50-100mls of distilled white vinegar to the fabric conditioner compartment every now and then (this depends on how much washing you do, but start with every 2 months). You can do this in conjunction with a wash or you can run the machine empty.

    Top tips:

To remove heavy or stubborn stains:

Pre-treat the stain(s) with one of our stain-remover bars.

Use “Savon Détachant" Olive for general stains.

Use “Savon Détachant” à la Terre de Sommières for stubborn oil and grease based stains.

If your laundry is heavily soiled:

Add 15 g (2 tbs) Sodium Bicarbonate to the main dispenser drawer or a washing ball, but do not use for fabrics such as wool or silk.

    To brighten whites:

Add 1 tbsp of Sodium Percarbonate (or a small scoop of soda crystals) to the pre-wash or bleach detergent compartment of the your washing machine, but do not use for fabrics such as wool or silk.

In hard water areas (to improve the performance of your wash):

Add 30 ml *Sodium Citrate Liquid into the drum, on the top of the laundry, or in a washing ball.

    * For instructions on how to make your own Sodium Citrate Liquid - refer to Sodium Bicarbonate or Citric Acid directions for use.

    For a scented wash:

Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil to your washing liquid mix.

    IMPORTANT!

DO use Sodium Bicarbonate for heavily soiled or stained laundry.

DO NOT use Sodium Bicarbonate on wool or silk - it is too alkaline for delicate fabrics.

DO use Sodium Percarbonate to brighten whites.

DO NOT use Sodium Percarbonate on wool, silk or blood stains.

DO use Sodium Citrate liquid (sequestrant) to improve the performance of your wash (especially in hard water areas).
